John 1:14-18
John 1:14-18 (HCSB) 14 The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John testified concerning Him and exclaimed, “This was the One of whom I said, ‘The One coming after me has surpassed me, because He existed before me.’ ”) 16 Indeed, we have all received grace after grace from His fullness, 17 for although the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son— the One who is at the Father’s side— He has revealed Him.
The greatest declaration of the Bible. The Word became flesh.
Jesus is God and Jesus is man! Full of grace and truth! We know it is true - John testified.
We were given the law so we know the right things to do. Howeverm we could never keep the law. Jesus brought us grace so we could live in Him!
Jesus came to reveal God to us.
Teenagers:
1) Why do you think God had to become man?
2) How well do teenagers as a whole keep God’s laws?
3) How does Jesus coming help us?
4) What is grace?
Pray: Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus, full of grace and truth. Amen
For Children:
1) Jesus is God and man. This can be confusing. Can you think of things that are two things at once?
2) Jesus came to help us obey God’s rules. He gives us grace (helps us when we mess up). Have you ever messed up?
3) Have you asked Jesus to forgive your sins?
Pray: Thank you Jesus for coming to forgive my sins. Amen.
For Preschoolers:
Use Matthew 19:13-15 Jesus and the children.
Use the Bible Phrase “Jesus loves you.”
Tell preschoolers that Jesus loves them. Tell them the story of Jesus asking the little children to come to him so he could love them.
Pray with your children thanking God that Jesus loves us.
